Product details

I’m certainly not a fan of Greg Norman, I think he’s completely lost his marbles to be honest. He has however always been more clued up than the average pro on the equipment front. He has a decent rack of clubs and retains great clubs from the past. He does some of his own club work like any self respecting connoisseur so maybe he’s not all bad?

These are a rare set of the coveted Greg Norman Cobra blades which he played in the 90s. Cobra made a retail version which I believe came out the Hoffman forge. Norman requested a slightly different version and Cobra enlisted the services of the great Don White at MacGregor. I’m not sure how many sets of these TOUR versions were made but they look quite different up close than the retail versions. They have a longer hosel and very high CG. A rare set of irons which would certainly not be made today, high CG produces low ball flight and sharp zero camber sole grind means there is little to no forgiveness on anything but a perfect strike. Speed is required to get ball flight out of these heads!

I’ve given the heads a polish. I’ve redone the paint fill in what Cathal and I consider to be something far more appealing. BBF ferrules of course and the cherry on the cake? Original satin Project X 6.0 shafts. Try finding a set of these on ebay! The original Project X was at one time in the early 2000s used by the majority of the world’s top 10. It presented a major issue for the manufacturers due to the high cost. At wholesale it cost five times the price of other steel shafts. The solution came in cynical form sadly. True Temper simply bought Precision Golf Shafts who made them, shut them down and then made the cheap version we see today. I kept a few sets on ice but sadly this is my last set. Tour Velvet grips installed properly of course with reduced taper under the right hand.

See build sheet for specs but the usual irrational tolerances are in play. Progressive swing weight/MOI provides set matching and feel you only get from the very best club builders.
