Product details
The Titleist 970 is from the brand's golden age, around the year 2000 when Tiger was on staff. Larry Bobka was responsible for making sure the tour guys got whatever they needed, and they weren't tied to what was available at retail - players of that era were much move involved in the process that today's tour players.
This 970 head never came to retail. The players loved the original PT fairway so much, and the 970 is an evolution of that head, with a deeper face and a slightly more compact shape front-to-back. They were so popular on tour that Titleist started paiting them black so they resembled the retail model that they released alongside the 975d drivers.
This one is has 17 degrees of loft, although i've adjusted the face angle so it plays at more like 15 degrees. I've also re-done the paint job, which feels a bit like a crime against such a great club. Sorry.
