We're thrilled to announce the launch of This Golfing Life, a new podcast from Sounder.
Each week, host Dan Davies will welcome a different guest for an in-depth conversation about golf, life and the relationship between the two. His guests will include authors and actors, musicians and movie stars, professional golfers, amateurs and course designers. Some of them are household names, some are barely known outside their own household. But all of them share one thing: a deep and enduring infatuation with the game of golf.
Dan is a great friend of Sounder - an award-wining writer and editor, and the proprietor, architect and greenkeeper of RNGC, the UK's shortest (and hardest) backyard golf course.
His guest for episode one is the actor, comedian and writer Simon Farnaby. Your friends will recognise him for The Detectorists. Your kids will love him from Horrible Histories and Ghosts, but he's also one of the most in-demand writers in Hollywood, creating the scripts on Paddington 2, Wonka, and the forthcoming Magic Faraway Tree, which is out in cinemas this month.
Simon also co-wrote one of the funniest golf books ever printed. The Phantom of the Open tells the true story of Maurice Flitcroft, a crane driver from Barrow-in-Furness, who decided to enter the Open Championship as a forty-five year old despite never having played golf in his life. The story was adapted for the big screen by Simon, with Mark Rylance in the title role.
Episode one of This Golfing Life is now available to watch on YouTube, or to download and enjoy from Apple, Spotify, Amazon, or wherever you get your podcasts.

So why have we launched This Golfing Life? After all, it's not as if the golf world needs another podcast.
Well, we definitely won't be covering week-by-week reports from professional tours (we'd recommend No Laying Up, The Shotgun Start or The Chipping Forecast if that's your thing).
We won't be going deep into course architecture or golf history (check out The Fried Egg or our good pals at Cookie Jar Golf respectively), but we'll celebrate both when we can.
This Golfing Life is about connecting with interesting people and their lifelong relationship with the game. In a media landscape where anyone with a phone can call themselves a creator, we want to celebrate achievement over attention and substance over celebrity.
Imagine sitting down for a post-round pint with some of the most interesting playing partners on the planet, and pull up a chair.
